Associate Structural Engineer
Lance joined MEC in 2021 to lead and grow the Leicester Structural team. He is an Incorporated Structural Engineer (IEng, IMIStructE) with over 40 years of experience in the UK and Southern Africa.
Lance has delivered structural design across commercial, industrial, educational and residential projects. His portfolio includes leading the 710,000 sq ft Cornubia Shopping Centre in South Africa, designing complex feature roofs and link bridges at Multichoice City in Johannesburg, and transforming historic buildings such as Southwold Hospital in Suffolk and a Victorian warehouse on Clerkenwell Road, London.
Most recently, Lance has been involved in the refurbishment of Pilot House in Leicester, creating new exhibition and workspace areas, and in the structural design for a major 12.6-hectare mixed-use scheme at Ely, with the proposal to deliver industrial, retail and hospitality space including a Lidl and Premier Inn. His expertise ensured practical, cost-effective foundation and superstructure solutions within a complex site environment.
With expertise in steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures, and a reputation for cost-effective, buildable solutions, Lance continues to bring invaluable technical leadership and insight to our projects.
