Successful Appeal to Regenerate Former Bicester Magistrates’ Court

Great to see that the site of the former Magistrates’ Court in Bicester will be regenerated into 32 new apartments following a successful appeal outcome.

Our Acoustics & Air Quality teams supported the initial planning application for this brownfield site with:

A road traffic Acoustics Assessment (in accordance with BS 8233 and ProPG) which determined that the relevant internal sound level criteria could be achieved with the use of standard thermal double glazing coupled with acoustically rated trickle vents.

A Screening assessment (in accordance with EPUK and IAQM guidance) to review local air quality & compare proposed development flows with existing traffic flows.

A Site NO2 exposure assessment, which showed that the annual mean objective level would not be exceeded at the site, and recommended mitigation measures to offset potential incremental creep in pollutant emissions.

A construction dust risk assessment (in accordance with IAQM guidance) and recommendation of appropriate mitigation measures.

This was certainly one of the more unusual sites our Acoustics & Air Quality teams have surveyed, with our Senior Acoustic Consultant, Harry Johnson shown features of the former court building including the old holding cells!
