Reserved Matters Approval has been secured for Cotswold Oak Ltd on a proposed residential development at Brookend Lane, Kempsey.
Working alongside Zesta Planning Ltd, MEC’s lighting team provided both a Lighting Impact Assessment and S38 lighting design to address conditions relating to environmental and wildlife considerations. This included ensuring compliance with Worcestershire County Council’s lighting guidelines and taking measures to minimise disturbance to nocturnal species.
Using industry-standard modelling, the team evaluated potential lighting effects on sensitive ecological receptors, such as bat foraging corridors. The design met the requirements of the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) guidance and Worcestershire County Council standards, achieving lux levels and sky glow well within prescribed limits. This ensures safe, effective lighting while reducing ecological disruption.
MEC’s involvement has helped pave the way for the development to progress, and the team looks forward to seeing the scheme come to life.
