Morris Homes has secured a development site for a proposed residential project consisting of 236 homes located in Redditch, Worcestershire. This site falls under two different planning authorities, with 210 homes located within Redditch Borough Council and 26 homes within Stratford-on-Avon District Council (SDC).
The development required the fulfilment of a planning condition specifically related to air quality mitigation for the 26 homes within SDC's jurisdiction. To address this, Morris Homes commissioned MEC to provide an Air Quality Mitigation Statement.
The planning condition mandated the development to incorporate measures to reduce the potential air quality impacts caused by the project.
To meet these requirements, MEC’s team followed the guidance set out in the SDC Air Quality and Planning Guidance, Supplementary Planning Document. The mitigation measures proposed by MEC included:
These measures were carefully designed to align with local air quality policies and ensure that the potential air quality impacts of the development were mitigated effectively.
The air quality mitigation measures proposed by MEC were approved in October 2024 leading to the successful discharge of the planning condition. This allowed the development to proceed as planned, ensuring that the project met its environmental obligations and adhered to the air quality standards set by Stratford-on-Avon District Council.
MEC’s comprehensive approach to air quality mitigation enabled Morris Homes to move forward with the residential development, providing a sustainable solution for future residents while minimising environmental impact.
