M-EC is a privately-owned, multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, operating nationally. We serve both private and public sector clients including residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education and healthcare.

We are seeking a motivated Air Quality Consultant (Graduate/Assistant level) to join our expanding team based from our Leicestershire office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and passionate person to develop as member of our Air Quality team; working for a number of significant clients on residential and commercial projects.

The successful candidate will be trained in the assessment of Air Quality and will be; taught how to undertake scoping, simple and detailed air quality assessments, undertake sniff tests, odour risk assessments, shown how to undertake air quality dispersion modelling, and how to produce concise reports and assessments.

In a growing specialist team, you will hit the ground running and be a key player involved in the daily delivery of projects; including supporting clients and liaising with local councils. You will have the opportunity to quickly learn a range of specialist and wider professional skills within a consultancy setting, whilst focusing on your professional development.

Our Air Quality team offers a range of services to cover all aspects of the discipline, including:

  • Road traffic impacts from proposed residential, commercial or industrial uses;
  • Screening assessments for Biomass Boilers;
  • Odour Risk Assessments; and
  • Construction Dust Risk Assessments.

The position is based in Hugglescote, near Leicester. Due to the need for travel to sites across the UK it is essential that you have a full UK driving license and access to a car, a company van may be provided for work purposes.

Key role responsibilities:

  • Support senior colleagues in undertaking air quality modelling and data processing;
  • Support senior colleagues in technical report writing;
  • Continued professional development towards membership of the Institute of Air Quality Management and Institute of Environmental & Assessment;
  • Communication with local authorities and clients; and
  • Co-ordination with other disciplines within the company, working collaboratively with all staff to deliver excellence.

Key skills, experience and attributes required:

  • BSc/MSc degree in relevant scientific degree;
  • Good Microsoft Office skills are essential;
  • Full UK Driving License;
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally work outside of normal office hours;
  • Strong numeracy skills;
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively through close co-operation with the team;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally;
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, pro-active approach and desire to develop a career in Air Quality; and
  • Experience using ADMS-Roads is desirable.
