M-EC is a privately-owned multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy company, operating nationally from our two offices. We serve both private and public sector clients including residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education and healthcare.

 

We are looking for a Civil Engineer to join our busy development infrastructure team based at our Leicestershire office. The main focus of our infrastructure team are projects in highways and drainage, including Section 278, Section 38 and Section 104 design, to support all types of development. You will also be supporting other disciplines to deliver a wide variety of technical development projects.

The team manages many multidisciplinary projects, with design work spanning scoping and feasibility, technical support for planning and detailed design, and support during construction.

The position is based in Hugglescote, near Leicester, and we are flexible with regards to hybrid working.

This is an ideal opportunity for a suitably experienced Civil Engineer to develop their career and assist in the technical direction and growth of the team.

 

Requirements

Key role responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with engineers and technicians to deliver infrastructure scheme designs;
  • Highway design (S38 / S278) both preliminary and detailed;
  • Drainage design (S104 / S98) both strategic and detailed;
  • Design of foul pumping stations, SUDS, flow control structures and balancing facilities;
  • Residential and commercial external works design; and
  • Earthworks design and cut/fill assessments.


Key skills, experience and attributes required:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Incorporated or Chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers;
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD;
  • Have the ability to prepare CAD drawings to a standard suitable for construction and technical approvals;
  • Competence in infrastructure design software such as XPSite3D, Autodesk Civils3D + Vehicle Swept Path, Causeway PDS and Micro Drainage is desirable;
  • Expert in infrastructure scheme designs;
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office;
  • Excellent communication skills, to liaise with colleagues and clients;
  • Ability to work within a team and also able work under own initiative; 
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to prioritise workload; and
  • Someone who will engage in our positive health and safety culture, notifying the company of any potentials risk to your, or your colleagues, health, safety, and wellbeing whilst at work. Cooperate with the company by following processes and training provided on health and safety.
