Tell us a little about your role.
As a Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer, my responsibilities include preparing Phase I and II geo-environmental, contaminated land, and ground investigation reports. I also conduct site visits, oversee site activities, and monitor environmental conditions. Based on my findings, I recommend next steps for investigations and propose appropriate remediation measures to ensure compliance with building regulations.
Currently, I am still undergoing training, as the role encompasses many aspects and offers continuous learning opportunities. The variety of work, with no two sites being the same, is one of the things I find most rewarding about this career.
How have you found being a female engineer working at MEC?
The team at MEC has been welcoming and supportive, which has significantly contributed to my growth and development. Since joining, I’ve had the chance to work on diverse projects and take on meaningful responsibilities, which have helped me greatly enhance my skills. I feel valued as a team member and am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
Would you encourage other women to consider roles in engineering?
Of course! If you're passionate about engineering, gender shouldn't be a barrier. Women represent nearly half of the global population, so it's only natural that their voices should be heard in shaping how the world is built. By encouraging more women to join fields like engineering, we ensure that diverse perspectives are part of creating solutions that work for everyone.
