Consulting Development Engineers

A Leicestershire engineering consultancy has strengthened five of its in-house divisions as seven new construction professionals join the team.

M-EC Consulting Development Engineers, which employs 43 people from its Ibstock head office, has made a series of appointments from graduate through to senior level. In the consultancy’s core divisions of transport and infrastructure, Neil Benison joins as associate director for the former whilst graduate civil engineer, Alice Fearn and CAD technician, Vijay Patel take the total in the infrastructure team to 12.

New recruits in the structures division include CAD technician, Carl Edwards and graduate structural engineer, Hamza Yakub whilst in flood risk and hydrology, Neil Hogan has been enlisted as a civil engineering technician. Completing the intake is Michael Watkinson, a topographical land surveyor who boosts the five-strong geomatics division.

“The business has been growing steadily for the last few years as we’ve expanded our portfolio, firmly established our apprenticeship scheme and won more work both inside and outside the region,” comments managing director, Eddie Mewies. “Most recently, our recruitment strategy has focused on sourcing top quality candidates to improve our in-house capabilities and this has proven successful, but now the time is right to increase capacity in our core divisions. Collectively these new appointments represent over a 15% growth in our workforce, the most we have ever taken on at one time, but we are confident we have made strong choices that will enable us to remain on track to achieve our growth aspirations for 2015.”

M-EC’s latest recruits are currently working on a range of projects including sites in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.
