When M-EC ‒ one of the UK’s fastest growing engineering consultancies ‒ launched its office at Milton Keynes in 2015 as part of the company’s strategic growth plan, it certainly was a significant move for the business.

“The decision to move into Milton Keynes was a major investment for the business only three years ago and we’ve seen it go from strength to strength,” said managing director Eddie Mewies.

Now, just three years on the Milton Keynes team has grown to 18 strong and the company has recently promoted Milton Keynes-based head of structures, Chris Pollett to associate director level.

With the growth in the structures and geomatics departments, the team in Milton Keynes now comprises eight staff in civil engineering, two in flood risk and drainage, two in geo-environmental, four in structural engineering and one in geomatics; all led diligently by associate director, Mike Avery.

Mike said: “I joined M-EC to launch the Milton Keynes team and in the early days, there were just five of us, now there’s 18. We’ve expanded the range of services we offer and our client base significantly and are very much planning for further growth in the near future.”

Bringing vast experience from all sectors of structural engineering, Chris Pollett has been with the business for two years working with the directors handling key clients in the south and appointing key professionals in both Leicester and Milton Keynes.

“I wanted to work for a company that’s looking to grow both in terms of business and investment in people and M-EC really fits that profile. Since I joined, the company has expanded with further offices in Leeds and Brighton and my particular responsibility, to build the structures team, has seen us go from two fully qualified engineers to now eight, working throughout the region,” said Chris. “It’s also my role to diversify our skill set and scope of services, offering an experienced, nationally recognised structural engineering team, which our varied range of clients can call upon, providing all the aspects required in this field.”

“With Chris’s vision reflecting our own we’ve made some significant appointments and witnessed the strengthening of a very important team, in terms of skills and customer care,” added Eddie Mewies. “Now well established and augmenting our existing team of experts we’re pleased to further invest in this area and know that the commitment shown by this vibrant team will grow the reputation and success of the business even further.”

M-EC has also employed experienced surveyor Kevin Dengel, who has joined the Milton Keynes team to expand its laser scanning and measured building survey capabilities.

With headquarters in Hugglescote, Leicestershire and further offices in Birmingham, Brighton, Leeds and Nottingham, M-EC’s extensive client list covers commercial, education, industrial, residential, leisure and retail projects. The full range of services includes:

  • Infrastructure design
  • Structural engineering
  • Transportation planning and road safety audits
  • Flood risk and drainage
  • Land and building surveys
  • Ground investigations
  • Noise and air quality assessments
  • Utilities
  • Street lighting design

Currently employing over 95 people – including highly qualified engineering and environmental professionals and 22 apprentices across all disciplines – M-EC is becoming recognised as one of the most client-focused consultancies in the industry.
