Acoustic Air - Air Quality Assessments

M-EC’s experienced team undertake Air Quality Assessments for residential and commercial developments, assessing the impact of existing and future traffic flows within the local transport network. 

Air Quality is now the most significant environmental risk for early death, so the impact of air quality on and off-site is now fundamental to the planning process. 

Our Air Quality Assessments are undertaken as a simplified or detailed assessment. A simplified assessment will use the DMRB screening tool to calculate predicted concentrations along the road network. 

A detailed assessment uses Air Quality Dispersion modelling to assess the impact, taking into account weather conditions of a year and assessing the future impacts on existing and future sensitive receptors. 

Our team provides suitable mitigation options to reduce the impact that may come from the potential development. Mitigation measures include Electric Vehicle Charging points, travel plans, Low NOx heating and boilers, etc. It is possible to give a quantitate assessment of the impact of these mitigation measures, but it does require an increase in the uptake of these measures from future residents.
