Across all sectors, we advise purchasers, vendors, developers and asset managers to ensure that contaminated land risks are appropriately assessed, managed and monitored and that the risks and liabilities are fully appreciated. These services are generally tailored to the requirement to discharge planning conditions
Risks associated with contaminated land are generally assessed on a phased basis, involving the completion of a preliminary desk-based risk assessment (Phase I) to enable the development of a Conceptual Site Model (CSM) followed by a detailed geo-environmental investigation (Phase II) to enable full characterisation of risks to both human health and the environment and the associated liabilities and refinement of the CSM. Where significant risks are identified, our specialists undertake detailed quantitative risk assessments (DQRA’s) to the satisfaction of the EHO and EA.
Our experts develop detailed remediation method statements and supervise/validate remediation works to ensure the full discharge of planning conditions relating to human health and environmental risks associated with contaminated land. Direct and constant liaison with the regulators is completed at all stages to ensure their requirements are met.
