Geo-Environmental - Geotechnical Design Services

In conjunction with our ground services team, M-EC offers a range of geotechnical services designed to provide clients with practical and cost-effective solutions associated with the civil engineering design requirements for development sites across various sectors.

Working closely with our structural and civil engineering teams, our specialist geotechnical engineers contribute to the formulation of earthworks cut and fill strategies, economic design of foundations for structures and retaining walls, and detailed slope stability assessment. We also provide specialist advice on the potential for ground instability.

M-EC have extensive experience in the development of method statements and supervision of earthworks to create stable development platforms, raising of ground levels for flood alleviation schemes, backfill of historical quarries/excavations and the creation of noise bunds and landscape features.

M-EC can provide tailored slope stability investigations using site-derived geotechnical information, level surveys and computer modelling software to generate the most cost-effective designs to generate optimum development potential. In conjunction with our experienced structures team, our team also offers advice on the design and placement of retaining walls across sloping sites.

Ground instability can result from several natural geological and man-made underground features, including historic mining, the dissolution of soluble strata and the settlement of compressible soils. The risks associated with ground instability are usually identified at an early desk study stage. Our experts develop an appropriate investigation and subsequent stabilisation strategy to ensure the integrity of the proposed development.
