Our process for foundation design starts by looking at the data provided from the ground investigation. Where this is unavailable, our structures team will work with the in-house Geo-Environmental team to undertake these investigations.
The investigations provide the structures team with a broad overview which supports precise vertical and horizontal load calculations to determine risks and help minimise these. Results from this will also enable the structures team to provide a recommendation for the foundation designs, which are often between traditional – trench footings or a piling approach, although on some more challenging sites, a combination or bespoke approach may be required.
Whilst the majority of projects undertaken are at the detailed design stage of a project, our structures team also advise on pre-planning projects to provide second opinions where ground investigation provides borderline results.
