Project Overview

One of the latest projects for our Flood Risk & Drainage team will enable one of the UK’s biggest woodland mushroom producers to expand their premises.

Our longstanding client, The Livesey Brothers has been producing woodland mushrooms on their Leicestershire farm for almost 40 years. To enable business growth, they sought planning permission to extend their existing premises by adding an 8,500m² agricultural building with roof mounted solar panels, new cycle shelter, landscaping and biodiversity improvements, and a formal drainage system including rainwater harvesting.

We were commissioned to overcome Environment Agency (EA) objections in respect of the foul drainage provision, as our associate director, Tim Rose explains: “With the planned extension likely to increase the number of employees on site, the EA was concerned the existing on site non-mains foul drainage system would not meet the additional demand. Our role was to evaluate the existing provision, advise on any additional storage required and submit revised drawings together with a technical note to address the objection. Our assessment was accepted, and the application was approved. Prior to work commencing, we are now working to discharge a series of conditions relating to the surface water drainage scheme.
