Expert Witness

MEC provides Expert Witness services for Public Inquiries, Informal Hearings, Planning Committees and Emerging Local Plans such as Examination in Public (EIP).

Our in-house team has extensive experience in preparing written representations, statements and proofs of evidence to support either the promotion of a site through the local plan or defend an application at planning committee or any subsequent Appeal.

We are well versed in attending and being cross-examined at Public Inquiry with a high level of success defending our own evidence put forward at the planning application stage or that of others where a third party consultant has been unable to supply a suitable witness.

We can provide specific advice and expert witnesses across all of our services, with the more common areas of work being: Flood Risk & Drainage, Transport Planning, Noise, Air Quality and Contamination.

What we offer

MEC provides independent expert witness support across a range of development, engineering and environmental matters. Our experienced specialists can provide clear, evidence-based opinion for planning appeals, legal proceedings, tribunals, inquiries and dispute resolution.

Working closely with solicitors, barristers, insurers, developers and other professional teams, we prepare robust expert reports, review technical evidence and, where required, provide oral evidence. Our approach is impartial, proportionate and focused on presenting complex technical matters clearly.
