Background and industry experience
Barry has been in the lighting industry for around a decade. He came in fresh from a non-engineering background and had to learn on the job. Barry joined MEC in November 2025.
Barry completed the ILP diploma within the first couple of years of being in the lighting industry, gaining a distinction. The diploma was then used to obtain his EngTech qualification through the ILP. Barry is currently an associate member of the ILP.
Barry has mostly completed projects for residential development lighting, either private or section 38. He has good experience of S278 works also, having worked on many public highway designs over the years. Barry has experience of commercial lighting and public realm lighting design, as well as architectual lighting.
Barry has worked on many varied projects over the years, which have included sensitive ecology work on a residential development in Horndean, and large residential builds like Basingstoke Golf Course redevelopment and Rochester Riverside. He also took a leading role in the architectural lighting design for the Blue Boar Crane in Rochester.
Barry enjoys canoeing, golf and Muay Thai.
