Danny Hinds

Principal Civil Engineer

Danny joined MEC in September 2014 as a civil engineering apprentice. He worked full-time whilst studying at Stephenson College, Coalville, for an HND in CBE, whilst also working towards his NVQ in Construction management, which he completed by September 2019. Since starting his career at MEC in 2014, Danny has progressed through the ranks to become a civil engineer within the civils team, whilst also continuing his professional development. He became a graduate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) and is working towards his EngTech membership to the ICE, and eventually hopes to progress to becoming an incorporated member.

Danny works with Residential/commercial/Leisure/Care & Highways sectors, as well as recently undertaking some project management on behalf of Leicestershire County Council. Danny has enjoyed seeing strategic land developments come through, like Watery Lane, Lichfield, which includes lots of improvements to the highways, and is a proud achievement. Danny also noted that being part of any redevelopment project where we’re challenged to provide a solution which is outside of the box is something he takes pride in. Particular examples such as King Street, Leicester or the old Nestle Factory in York.

Outside of work, Danny follows Leicester City football club home and away, whilst also poorly trying to emulate his footballing heroes on the 5-a-side pitch each week. Danny also enjoys spending time outdoors, including camping, mountain biking, surfing, and playing golf.

I would say New York is definitely my favourite destination to have been to. Although I would love to travel to Australia especially during an ashes series.

Any Fast and Furious film, I probably quote a line at least once a day.

When the weathers good, it would have to be golf as I’m a member at the Leicestershire so I play almost every weekend.

I love Italian food, so anything Italian, especially a good pizza.
