Background and industry experience
Humza Ahmed is the Daylight Consultant at MEC, providing specialist Daylight & Sunlight advice alongside support on Lighting Impact Assessments across a wide range of developments. He graduated from UCL in 2021 with a degree in Geology, where he developed a strong interest in environmental analysis and sustainability within the built environment.
Since entering the industry, Humza has gained experience across both SME consultancies and leading multidisciplinary firms, with expertise in Daylight & Sunlight and Lighting Impact Assessments. His project portfolio spans residential, mixed-use and large-scale commercial developments throughout London and the UK. Highlights include leading the Light Pollution chapter for the £240M London Golf Club resort development in Kent, and contributing to Daylight analysis for major masterplans such as Canada Water.
Since joining MEC in August 2025, Humza has been focused on helping grow the company’s Daylight & Sunlight offering while continuing to support Lighting Impact projects. His combined expertise allows him to provide clients with a broader environmental perspective throughout the planning and design process.
Outside of work, Humza enjoys staying active and travelling. He plays football twice a week, regularly takes part in charity tournaments and trains in boxing. He explores the outdoors through hiking, having already climbed Scafell Pike and Snowdon, with Ben Nevis firmly on the horizon. Turkey has become his second home, and he hopes to continue his adventures around the world.
