Background and industry experience
Rob joined MEC in 2023 as Regional Director, helping to establish and grow the regional operation in the Midlands. He’s worked within civil engineering and residential development throughout his career. He has over 20 years’ experience across engineering, technical leadership and operational management within the housebuilding and consultancy sectors. His background has always centred around infrastructure delivery, planning, engineering design and supporting residential development from land acquisition through to completion.
Rob studied Civil Engineering at Coventry University, where he achieved both a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering and an HNC in Civil Engineering. He’s also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), a qualified CDM Principal Designer and a qualified First Aider.
The majority of Rob’s experience has been within residential development, particularly high-volume housing and strategic sites for PLC housebuilders. He’s also worked across infrastructure-led developments, mixed-use schemes and large-scale garden village projects.
Are there any projects you have worked on in your career that you are proud of and would like to note?
- “I’m particularly proud of helping establish and grow new regional operations both within consultancy and the housebuilding sector.”
- “At MEC Consulting Group, I helped establish and scale the Midlands regional business, growing the team and delivery capability while managing a regional turnover of approximately £5.3m.”
- “At Wain Homes, I supported the setup of the West Midlands technical function and secured planning approvals across multiple residential developments.”
- “I’m also proud of my involvement at CALA Homes, where I led the delivery of a flagship garden village development, managing programme, cost, and stakeholder coordination across a complex multi-phase scheme.”
Outside of work, Rob enjoys golf, football, looking after his garden, and a perfect pint of Guinness in a sunny beer garden. He also enjoys spending time outdoors and with family and friends.
Rob is passionate about building high-performing teams and creating collaborative working environments. He enjoys mentoring young professionals and helping teams develop both technically and commercially.

What is your favourite holiday destination?
Dublin or Barcelona for a city break and Spain for a summer holiday
What is your favourite film?
This does depend on the time of the year, at Christmas it’s The Holiday, but outside of the festive season, my favourite film that I can watch repeatedly is The Godfather (probably the first and second one, the third lost its way a bit).
What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
Spending time with family and friends, playing golf and watching football.
What is your favourite sport to follow?
Football, particularly Birmingham City F.C.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A good steak dinner would be hard to beat.
