
Background and industry experience
Thomas joined MEC in October 2024. Before Thomas was a Flood Risk Engineer, he worked as a kitchen porter, semi-cook, waiter, reception manager and interim Mess manager at RAFC Cranwell whilst he was at university! After wearing those many hats, he entered engineering consultancy in flood risk and drainage, and has been in that industry for over half a decade at this point!
Thomas obtained a BSc (Hons) in Geography and an MSc in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Coventry University! During his time at Coventry University, he also completed a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership and a Level 7 Award in Professional Consultancy. Thomas is also a Practitioner member of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (PISEP), and is working towards chartership with the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
Thomas has worked across most sectors including residential, commercial, retail, academic, healthcare, care, and industrial.
Any projects you have worked on in your career you are proud of and would like to note?
“I am very proud of working on the Curborough scheme in Lichfield, which carried through the early years of my career, along with the now finished and working Jesse’s House in Parsons Green, London, which provides multi-functional spaces for parents and children in London City Centre.”
Outside of work, Thomas is a guitarist in the alternative rock band ‘Octavia Wakes,’ performing gigs nationwide. He also volunteers with the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, participating in fundraising and awareness activities. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading, playing golf, and exploring the outdoors whenever the weather allows.
