Acoustics Consultant, Harry Johnson, Successfully Completes Sound Insulation Training Course

Two planning approvals for our client Terra over recent weeks has seen 66 new homes move forward in Worcestershire, both supported by our technical expertise.

We are pleased to share that our Acoustics Consultant, Harry Johnson, has recently completed The Building Compliance Testers Association’s training course on Sound Insulation Testing for Dwellings. This accomplishment comes on the heels of Harry’s completion of the IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control in 2023, further solidifying his expertise in the field of acoustics.

The four-day course took place at The Building Performance Hub in High Wycombe, where Harry studied both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to perform sound insulation compliance testing in residential buildings in accordance with the UK Building Regulation.

Upon completing the course, Harry sat the SITMA (Sound Insulation Testing and Measurement Association) examination, which he passed with full marks. This outstanding achievement underscores his proficiency and commitment to delivering top-quality acoustics consultancy services.

Harry comments, “These are exciting times for the acoustics team at MEC. Once we have completed the final stages of becoming accredited with the SITMA Certification Scheme, we will be able to undertake pre-completion testing on a multitude of residential projects. We are therefore delighted that we can add this service on to any design work we undertake for our clients.”

The Building Performance Hub adds, “It was a pleasure to have you down Harry, and even more of a pleasure to see you become the first and only candidate to score 100% on your exam!”
