We have recently invested in new Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment for our Geomatics team, strengthening our survey capabilities with the latest technology.
Our new MALA Easy Locator Core GPR unit replaces our old GPR unit and is used to locate underground utilities by showing changes in underground materials. Aside from the general upgrade in technology, weight and ease of use, the new tool uses AI to improve its ability to detect what lies beneath the surface. Identifying potential hazards before excavation begins means reduced disruptions and less costly damages to buried infrastructure. The specialist software provides more relevant information and gives our team greater confidence in the information that’s gathered on site.
GPR surveys can cover relatively large areas quickly, providing data that can be reviewed and analysed to support informed decision-making. The addition of post-processing the collected data allows us to identify services and other buried features that potentially haven’t been identified whilst on site.
The investment increases efficiency on site while helping us continue to deliver accurate, reliable surveys for our clients.
