Background and industry experience
Daniel joined MEC in June 2026 as an associate in our structures team. He has been in the industry for 13 years, having joined straight from school. He has always worked within Civil and structural consultancies. Daniel studied part-time whilst working, achieved an HND in Civil Engineering at Peterborough Regional College, and is currently working towards his professional qualification with the IStructE.
Daniel has worked on a range of project sectors. On the residential side, he has worked on small residential extensions, one-off ‘grand design’ houses, as well as small, medium and large housing estates. Within the commercial/industry sector, he has worked on a wide range, from small building alterations, access platforms, and M&E support frameworks through to large steel-frame building designs in sectors such as food production, vehicle manufacture and aerospace, as well as multi-unit commercial estates for developers.
Any projects you have worked on in your career that you are proud of and would like to note?
“I think most of my most impressive projects are subject to NDAs unfortunately, but I am very proud to have worked on a number of projects including: Multiple sites for a prestigious British vehicle manufacturer, a property that was featured on grand designs and some high rise buildings within canary wharf.“
Outside of work, Daniel’s first love is two wheels, having competed internationally at motorcycle trials, a sport he started competing in when he was six years old. He met his fiancée through the sport, so most weekends you can find them in a muddy field somewhere riding their bikes! If he’s not doing that he’ll probably be on a bike without an engine, as he enjoy’s cycling round the peaks. He has previously completed an Ironman triathlon and is currently training for the Copenhagen half marathon in September. “I suppose you could say I enjoy running and swimming too but ‘enjoying’ probably isn’t the right word for it!”
